Time Bokan Series: Bokan desuyo (ボカンですよ) is a Japanese shoot em' up game developed and published by Banpresto. It was released for Playstation on March 12, 1998. It is the sequel to the previous game Time Bokan Series: Bokan to Ippatsu! Doronbo with new features and original mecha, along with Dokurobei being a playable character.

Plot[]

The game has 2 story modes, a normal and special.

The normal mode is the same as the storyline from the previous game.

The special mode follows the Doronbo Gang following Dokurobei's orders to defeat all the Time Bokan Good Guys (from Time Bokan to Itadakiman) so they can become the featured stars. But at the final stage, everything was a setup so that Dokurobei can take the role for himself, but the Doronbo Gang won't let this end after being taken for a couple of saps.

Gameplay[]

  • Normal Mode: Easy level
  • Special Mode: Harder level (With 2 extra stages: Special Stage and Final Stage, plus an extended ending)
  • Options: Settings with in-game visual gallery.

Like any shoot em' up game (and the previous installment), shoot all the enemies and level up by collecting items to level up and best your score.

You control the Doronbo gang's mech by the D-pad. By pressing the Circle button, you will fire a shot. You can power up your shots by taking the item "Doronbo Mark".

You can also load a powerful Skull Bomb with the X button and press again to fire. It explodes when it lands on the ground in a parabolic pattern, but depending on the mech, there are two different types of Skull Bombs: a "spherical type" that takes a long time to land, but attacks a wide area, and a "bow and arrow type" that lands quickly but has a narrow attack range. Also, due to its nature, if you fire it in a place where there is no ground, it will fall and will not explode, thus it will not cause damage. The official name is "Super Powerful Bomb Production System". The setting is that a bomb is created and launched on the spot. If you are hit while a skull bomb is attached, you will immediately be riding the Discipline Tricycle.
In some stages, you will fire torpedoes and missiles instead of Skull Bombs (both have the ability to fly straight and explode when they come into contact with an enemy).
When pressing the L1 button / R1 button, you will roll from side to side. Use this to quickly evade from enemy fire.

In the 2P mode, the first player plays as Doronjo and the second player plays as Boyaky and Tonzura.

When you collect "Skull Stones", the "Skull Counter" accumulates, and when you get 99 Skull Stones, and press the transform button. your mech transforms into a giant mech. Until the Skull Counter returns to zero, you will be invincible and can use your huge body to attack and cause massive damage. New to this installment is that transforming isn't automatic anymore (needing a button to transform), and the maximum you can carry at a time now has been increased from 99 to 297 Skull Stones. You can also transform on the fly, and the duration will last until the counter reaches a multiple of 99 (99 or 198 Stones) or zero, whichever comes first.

Akudama Mecha[]

Like the game before, you can select the same mech from the Time Bokan Series before each level. Each mech has a different weapon when you level up your shot, and a Giant Mech when you collect 99 Skull Stones. After each stage, the chosen mech will be "Under Maintenace" and you cannot select it until the next stage.

You can go back if you survive long enough to collect a "Gekigasky" item.
